We live in a world where people DO NOT trust each other. Why should I give you my money, my credit card? What if you are a crook? What if I will feel sorry that I trusted you? Who are you? Why should I trust you? Why should I pay 10% more than other competitors of yours? My advice to you: use TESTIMONIALS on your site. People that have something nice to say about you, about your company or about your brand. Real people (that are perceived as real people) There are 3 types of testimonials: 1. Video testimonials (also the hardest ones to get). Get your partners, put them into a corner, take your mobile phone or your professional camera and shoot them. Video speaking ๐Ÿ™‚ It does not matter that they will mumble, that the video is shaky. The message is the most important 2. Face + name + title + company + message. It better be also recognizable persons or companies 3. Low life testimonials, that are the most difficult to believe: Joe D. “I used product X for 4 months now and I really like it. Why an e-marketing agency does not like to work with start-up/inexperienced clients (very much)

Because it usually seems that it does not pay offย  ๐Ÿ™‚ Why? Because the conversion rate of a new business is much lower. “Greenhorns” are making a lot of mistakes that translate in much higher chances to screw it up. Doing a marketing campaign for a already established company, with a lot of elements to generate trust is much easier and converts much better than a new company, with no testimonials, no brand awareness, no history, no procedures, and so on. Because the budgets are much smaller A startup done by inexperienced people have very few funds and usually are allocated in the wrong proportions. People are spending money in wrong directions, with bad results and from their own pocket or for family, friends or other fools :). So, the budgets are more like market research than marketing promotion and the duration for this is limited also for eventually setbacks, that will grow the pessimism ๐Ÿ™‚ Because the stress is much higher An inexperienced client/startup is more or less just like a virgin. You need a lot of “convincing time”, instead going directly to the bull’s eye. The inexperienced client will drive you mad with crazy demands or weird assumptions. Because inexperienced clients are too emotional They are much more emotional than rational. They hope to become millionaires overnight (who doesn’t), they become depress very fast and they need motivation to move on. Most probably, they do not have even a P&L structure in mind. Why selling online is like fishing

I realized that fishing is very similar with selling stuff online. You present your merchandise to your clients as nice as you can, but they have to swallow it. ๐Ÿ™‚ You can throw worms to fishes that are vegetarian, they will disregard you. If they are with belly’s full, again no luck. Or if your offer smells …”fishy”, if it’s not set at the right water dept or they just don’t feel like biting, you will not make the sale. Maybe the poor fishes are depressed of the weather (too low or too high atmospheric pressure), or is too hot and they are feeling sleepy. Or they are hibernating because of the crisis/winter ๐Ÿ™‚ Of course, you can force the fishes population to surrender. With electricity, with dynamite, with saine… Or you can increase your chances throwing 1000 fishing rods in the pond… You can increase the brand loyalty, by giving to them some sampling (throwing food in some areas of the pond, to create feeding behavior there). You, as a seller, you have to understand fish psychology, just like your consumers’ psychology. Why they act as they are, where they are, how they feed, what are the patterns, do some A/B testing and so on. You should ever let go small fishes, after they promise you that will come back to later, when they have more kilos ๐Ÿ™‚ Fishing clients requires logical approach, mathematical approach.
